의약품 평가연구센터(CDER, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research)

안전성과 유효성이 확보된 의약품 사용을 보장함으로써 필수적인 공공보건 업무를 수행함
일반의약품과 전문의약품, 생물의약품 및 제네릭의약품을 규제함
미국에서 의약품이 시판되기 위해서 거쳐야할 필수 단계를 이 기관에서 진행함

생물의약품 평가연구센터(CBER, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research)

공공보건서비스법(PHS Act)과 연방 식품·의약품·화장품법(FD&C Act)과 같은 연방법령에 따라 인체용 생물의약품을 규제함
생물의약품의 안전성 및 유효성을 확보하고, 필요한 사람들이 이용 가능하도록 보장함으로써 공공보건을 보호하고 증진하는 역할을 함
'22년도 9월, CBER 내 세포 및 유전자치료제 등 첨단바이오의약품을 담당하던 부서 '조직·첨단제제국(Office of Tissue and Advanced Therapies, OTAT)'이 '치료제품국(Office of Therapeutic Products)'로 개편됨
이번 개편은 OTAT로 접수되는 IND 및 미팅 수가 OTAT 직원 수 증가를 초과함에 따라 세포 및 유전자치료제에 대한 심사 전문성 향상 및 직원 고용 증대를 위하여 시행됨

규제 업무부(ORA, Office of Regulation Affairs)

연방 식품·의약품·화장품법(FD&C Act)에 따라 인체용 의약품의 규제와 정보공개법에 따른 정보 공개, 관련 정책 및 절차를 개발함
